Quick Start

VistaPDB comes shipped with five structures available via the Model -> Examples menu.

  • Hemoglobin: Transports Oxygen in Red Blood Cells of Vertebrates
  • Insulin: Hormone that functions in metabolism.
  • Rubisco: Catalyzes the first step in carbon fixation.
  • Tubulin: The fundamental subunits of microtubules.
  • Ubiquitin: Involved in the catalysis Proteasome dependent proteolysis.

To search and download other files, go to Tools -> PDB Search (alternatively you may visit the RCSB Protein Data Bank website directly)

  • Go to File -> Open to open up a PDB file.
  • To open a file with a current window open, go to Layers -> Add New Layer -> From File

Once a file is opened, you can rotate and translate the model, change its model type, select residues, model multiple files via layers, and much, much more! To view the model in several preset colors, go to Model -> Presets and choose an appropriate setting.
